Revenge Porn Victim Speaks Out on TV

A revenge porn victim appeared on ITV to raise awareness of revenge porn. Folami Prehaya (not pictured), from Bristol, became a victim of revenge porn following the breakup of her relationship to 45 year old Thomas Samuel. Samuel created a Facebook account under her name and “friended” the woman’s family and friends before posting a video and images of the two in sexually explicit and compromising acts. He also posted the images and video to various porn sites around the Internet where they were viewed over 50,000 times.

Prehaya allowed herself to be interviewed to raise awareness of this despicable crime and the impact it has had on her life. She talked of the embarrassment and how something personal to her has been shared with the public. The loss of control has ruined her life.  She has since can you buy adipex in mexico spent some considerable time trying to get Webmasters to remove the images. Some have taken the images down at her request, but it has not been easy and many of the images are still out there on the Internet for all to see.

As a result of her experiences, Prehaya has launched a website to help provide support and a voice for victims at http://www.voic.org.uk.

Samuel was prosecuted for publishing the images, but avoided going to prison with a suspended sentence. Some might say that this does not match the impact of the crime on the victim.

Following a recent review, the Government are in the process of changing the law to take account of this relatively new crime enacted via social media. Unfortunately, a little bit too late for Folami Prehaya.
